The Heart of Texas Tolers is a local chapter of the national organization, The Society of Decorative Painting. The chapter was chartered by the Society of Decorative Painters (SDP) in 1983 and is devoted to the advancement of decorative painting through education and community service activities.  The group welcomes painters of all levels and follows the guidelines as outlined by SDP.  The Heart of Texas Tolers Chapter is one of the more than 300 local chapters of SDP.

The local chapter members of HOTT meet on the 2nd Saturday of every month at 10 AM to share information on painting and paint projects together. These monthly sessions let local teachers share their skills with members. We welcome visitors to attend a meeting or two and paint with us. Are you interested in joining our chapter? Got to Contacts, Map & Join for your application.

Browse the pages of our website to see what we are doing in the areas of service, painting and community. Do you want to know more about Tole and Decorative painting? Just go to the bottom of the page to see what it is all about.

We have been blessed with rain, green grass and beautiful spring wildflowers this year.  I hope you have taken the opportunity to get out and enjoy them.  After being so dry, it's especially refreshing.  Take lots of pictures and let them inspire a new painting or even a new color scheme for an old design.  I took a couple painters and drove through the "Willow Loop" this year.  It was my first visit, but definitely not my last - all I can say is WOW!  I have never seen so many wildflowers.  It did my heart good and I have some ideas for paintings.  Now, all I need is the time and energy to paint them.

Keep your brushes dirty, Wendy

Installation of officers and 2011 Christmas Party end the year.

What is decorative painting? Decorative painting is a diverse art form that uses a variety of techniques and media to decorate both functional and non-functional surfaces.

The scope of contemporary decorative painting is boundless. Styles and techniques of the past are incorporated into trends and materials of the present while developing the decorative art heritage of the future.

Tole painting is the general term historically used to describe decorative painting on tin surfaces, especially in New England and by the Pennsylvania Germans. Contemporary decorative painting includes not only the folk art styles of many countries (Norway, Sweden, Germany, Russia, England, Mexico, etc.) but many facets of Early American decorative painting, theorem, and graining.

Whatever style, method, technique of media, all decorative artists will find a place in the Society of Decorative Painters and at HOTT .We'd love to hear about what your local chapter is doing (i.e. Fund Raisers, Seminars Interesting Projects). Just email us to share your information.
